Where's the Entrance

Every city has one. A place or a set of buildings that have seen better days. These two building are actual situated in a fairly nice part of town in Cuiaba, Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso. Whenever I walk pass something like this my first thought is what happen. Why are there run down building in a part of a city that is not exactly the other side of the tracks. Lots of times the answer to this looming question is a family feud of some kind or a owner who dies and doesn't leave it to anyone or both. Moral of the story is, store up treasures in heavens and put your trust in the one that has Eternal Valve...Jesus Christ God's Son and Savior...Amen

Here in the outback of Mato Grosso,Brazil,  the women prepare the vegetables and the men carefully prepare the meat. Everyone here takes food preparation very serious and with a lot of pride. after all I was told, you don't want to get a reputation for making bad and tasteless food. All the food is brought in daily from local farms to ensure freshness and  high quality.

Bottom of the fall

The Spectaulor Veu do Noiva Waterfall located in the heart of Chapada dos Guimaares in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Unfortunately visitors are not allowed to go down to the bottom of the fall for safety reasons. Although standing from atop is pretty impressive especially when an occasional group of Scarlet Macaws would fly over head.

Bloco "Pacotão, the most famous Carnaval Parade in all of  Brasilia, brings their fun and humor to the locals of this fine city. Poking fun of local Politicians and Judges for the things they have done or said throughout the year. I believe this group got there start in the 1970s during the Military Dictatorship when the Military would pass Big Laws known as a "Pacotão, The Big Package. I guess Americans could call Obamacare a "Pacotão, a Massive Package in this case besides the big disaster that it is.

Well Carnaval, is now in full swing in Brasilia, as hundreds (not millions like in Rio de Janeiro) of people hit the streets in funny costumes, musical instruments and a lot of enthusiasm as the excitement builds up. Some people spend all year preparing for this event practicing their instruments and finding the right clothes to wear like this gentlemen in the bottom photo.

Fireworks in the Distance

While trying to find something to photography on a cold and lonely night in January, well it wasn't exactly cold. I decided to photography the National Congress building from a different angle. So, while fumbling around with my tripod to set the shot up I saw some firework going off in the distance and was able to capture them in these two photos adding a little sparkle no pun intended to these images. I was caught off guard by the firework seeing how there was nothing special going on this night.

While walking along a not so well worn path I stumble across these two young boys who where perch up on a Guava Tree or Goiaba Tree in Portuguese.  Pedro top and Guilherme bottom, they offered me a sample of this most delicious fruit and between the three of us I think we strip the poor tree clean of all it offerings that why I don't have a photo of the fruit, all gone. However the good news is Brazil, produces more guava that any other country. See you boy next time around and thanks for your hard working in picking all those guavas for me. I think I need to learn to make Guava Paste or Jelly for next year.
