This young man was hard at work painting his mural for the city of Medellin. The bottom photo shows the draft he is working from. He was very happy to have his work on display for all to see. Next time I'm in town I'll be able to see the finished version.

Tuff Job

Truck Backing Up
Steep and Narrow Streets of Barrio Santo Domingo, Medellin, Colombia
I wouldn't want this guy's job backing up his truck all day long on these steep inclines to delivery goods to the local merchants. Not only is it very steep but the streets are narrow and there's lots of traffic adding to the difficulty of the job. I wonder how often he gets his brakes checked?

Colorful Entrance

Barrio Santo Domingo, Medellin, Colombia
I'm not sure if this is a school or a home? Either way, there's no mistaking the entrance to this place and I would imagine finding this building for the first time would pose no problem also.

Steep Streets

Going Down Hill

Going Up Hill

And Down Again
As I mention in yesterdays post you have to got through a mountain range to get to Medellin, you'll ascend over 9,000 feet before reaching  the city. So, because Medellin, is surrounded by mountain  it makes the streets pretty steep in places.

Road to Medellin

When traveling to Medellin, Colombia, it quite a picturesque drive from the airport to the actual city of Medellin, because of the mountainous terrain  that surrounds the city it made landing planes difficult whereby they moved the airport about a forty minute drive from the city.

Young people in support of animal rights.

Contrast of Buildings

A tale of two buildings. The blue one is obvious care for with someone living in it and the other one with graffiti looks abandon or at best, just not well care for since this is an expense neighborhood in the Candelaria section of Bogota.

Another Working Horse

Horse pulling Cart
Yesterdays post featured working horses of another kind, horses that are well cared for and probably live in barns. This horse, works hard all day pulling a cart for his owner and having to dodge traffic along the way.

Work Horse

Down through the ages horses have always been use to assist man in his work, that still holds true today. As I was walking  the streets of Bogota, I could hear the sound of hoofs echoing down the street as the local police department were bring there horses back from a public display of there magnificent animals. I believe they had about a dozen horses that they were showing the public that day.

Mural

Mural, Bogota, Colombia
I came across this Mural the other day and wanted to photograph it. I didn't realize at first that there was a man passed out at the bottom of it. I felt bad for the poor guy for I really don't like showing people at there low point, but it also a fact of life in every major city through out the world, some worst than others.

Humberto the Marimba Player
This young man was happyly playing his marimba on the streets of Bogota. He can be heard at  quite a distance as the sound of music echoed down the busy streets.  I actual saw him the next day in a completely different part of town. He really gets around and I don't think he has an agent.

Yes, you can eat cheap in Bogota, Colombia. And there's no shortage of all kinds of food for sale in the streets. $1.500 pesos for chorizo is less than a one US dollar and the corn is just pennies.

Churches

Catedral Primada en la Plaza de Bolivar
Iglesia de la Candelaria
Iglesia de San Francisco-400 Years Old
In some Latin American countries like Brazil, and Colombia, I have observed that the Evangelical movement is very strong with many people leaving the Catholic Church in favor of the Full Gospel message that is being preached. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Also, In the last days the Bible says, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. I believe this happening already. Good will always conquer evil and the  Gospel of Jesus Christ will have its way.

Backpacking

Backpacking is popular in South and Central America. It's an inexpensive way to see the country. These three guys are from somewhere in Europe, either Germany, or Holland, I gather from there accents. They looked tired as they probably have been walking for sometime with there heavey packs up and down the hilly streets of Bogota.
