Brasilia by Night

Ministerio de Brasília à Noite

Setor Hoteis Norte
As the Sun sets on another day in Brasilia, and as this year comes to a close I'm remind just how fast time and life goes by. To me, it seem like in particular these last few months have been the fastest of my life. A lot has happen in my life this year and I realize more and more that everyday is truly a gift from God. I pray that I will make the most of my time here on earth or as we say,  Lord help me today while it is still called today. Living in Brazil, I take great joy in being able to help the poor as much as I can. They always seem so appreciative of the little things you do for them.

Ponte JK at Christmas

Ponte JK Brasilia, Brazil
The world famous Ponte JK in Brasilia, Brazil, lite up at night with a splash of color for Christmas. Well, it Christmas time again. I actually  always enjoyed the 24th or Christmas Eve the best. So, for me this is a time to reflex on the pass year. And what a year it's been for me. The good new is God (Jesus) is still on my side. I am comforted in the fact that my Mighty Savoir, the Prince of Peace and King of Kings, can never leave me, abandon me or hurt me in anyway. And that my friends is good news! As one of the lines to one of my favorite songs says "With Christ at my side I am Destined to Win."  Blessings to all as we celebrate the birth of the True and Living God who came to earth to save us, forgive us, and give us an Abundant life to all who believe in Him.  For it is written that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of All.

Torre de TV

Torre de TV at Sunset
The Torre de TV Tower in Brasilia, Brazil, lit up like a Christmas Tree as the sunsets behind it. One thing about shooting at night in Brasilia, at Christmas time is well, it's not cold. With tempertures at a pleasant 75 degrees it makes night time photography a joy. And yes this Tower is open to the public with a spectacular view of the city lights from above.

Maria José

Maria José

Maria José, with her great big smile.
Sometimes while walking around looking for interesting thing or people to photograph I'll come across someone like this lady Maria José. To me the lines on her face told the story of a life that has been somewhat hard at times. She has five children that she hardly gets see and a husband that abandon her years ago. But, with all that she still manages to smile and has a great outlook on life. She actually made my day with her beautiful smile and kind words of "God bless you" as she left.

Urban Shoot

Joseph Anthony

Angie
I love finding different backdrops or setting to shoot against such as this one I came in Bogota, Colombia, a few weeks ago. I didn't have much time to pull off  a lot of shots but I was happy with what I got.  Such is life sometimes, not enough time. But, its taught me to work fast and make the most of  what I have.  So, I thank my two willing participants for helping me out with these images.

Larissa, Andrea  and Leuana
Well, today is Thanksgiving in the US. A time when families get together to eat to much food and a chances for liberal's to get all bent out shape. Anyways, this is one beautiful Brazilian family that I had to privileged to photograph the other day. What I was most impressed with is that although very poor they where also very happy, well behaved and welcomed me with open arms. May God bless them and watch over them everyday.

Washington DC

Washington Monument
Washington DC, Capital Building
No matter what your party affiliation is one thing I have learned over the years is, that if you put your hope in a political party you will always be disappointed. No one party can solve problems that are spiritual like we have today in America, a nation that is slowing turning it's back on God. For me personally the outcome of the election was definitely a call to prayer and repentance. As far I can remember this was the first time in are nations history that the two men running for office were not Christians.

So, as a christian, I'l be praying for the President to be given wisdom and understanding to guide this nation and not destroy it. May God help us in turning are hearts back to him. Jesus Christ the hope of glory.

Buffalo Milk

Not as easy as it looks
Now, lets try that again
Way out in the boonies of Colombia, near the town Puerto Salgar, there is a lot of rich farmland. So rich, not only for planting crops, but for highly prized Buffalo milk and cheese. I came across this farmer who was milking his Buffalo's for the morning  and ask if I could take some photos of him milking his herd. Better yet, how about a photo of me learning how milk these highly prized animals.

My Nephew-Mi Sobrino

Joseph Anthony in Bogota, Colombia
Joseph Anthony in Puerto Salgar, Colombia
Joseph Anthony & Me somewhere in Bogota
Sometimes life can be unfair and deal you a hard blow such as was the case of my nephew who back in 2003 his mother disappeared.  Thank God, for a loving caring family back in Colombia, that has taken good care of him for almost the pass ten years. This young man is very focus and know what he wants in life. He enrolled himself in an English class in Bogota, Colombia, and learn to speak English in eight month so he can come to the US to study. With the help of God, I'll do all I can to support him and see to it that he will chance to succeed.

As the Bible says in Jeremiah 27: 11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope.

So no matter what's happen up to this point I know that God is faithful and the gates of hell will not prevail. Thank you King Jesus!!

Dia das Crianças

Today was Dia das Crianças in Brazil, a wonderful day to celebrate this joyous occasion at Igreja Cristã Evangélica in Asa Norte.  Kids were brought in from the satellites cities to hear the Word of God, play games and then enjoy a good meal. You can let kids go home hungry, or adults for that fact.

Joy of Music

Raquel on the drum
Gabriela  Dancing
Without music the world would be a pretty dull place. There's not a culture on earth that doesn't play or is not effected by music. It all started with a guy named Jubal, the first musician on earth. Psalm 150: 4a Praise him with the drum and dancing. 5b & 6 praise him with the loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord.  Remember if you don't praise him, the rocks will.

Mass Wedding

And don't forget to KEEP you vows!!

The happy  couple Eduardo & Izabella
Here in Brazil, they have a tradition that once a year they'll have a mass wedding in a public arena with over one hundred couples getting married in the same night for all to see. It was like going to a ball game with people sitting in the stands while there love ones tied the knot. Vendor were selling beer, popcorn, roasted corn and cotton candy while these couples exchanged vows.

Dry Season

Dry Season

No one was burned while taking these photos
Well, the dry season in Brasilia is official over now, it end with the start of October. And as you can see were in need of rain. Every year right before the dry season ends it get pretty hot here and because of the angle to sun and are proximity to the equator these little fires tend to break out all over the place. However, by this time next week all this will be lush and green. Whew, I can just image how hell will be!!

Riot Friday-Coming Soon to City Near You

Informative video that tells it like it is. We need more people like Michelle Malkin, who understand what evil is and looks likes.

Everything you need to know about Islam in one easy lesson.

There is not such thing as a peaceful Muslim. Islamic error breeds terror. Everything you need to know about Islam in photo above. And the US still hasn't learned. Islam is one big lie from the pits of hell. Deceiving millions of people to a dark and empty life while on earth and making life harder on those who do good and really seek peace.

Happy Faces

The lovely Ana Souza

Juliana Silva walking on stilts

Jose Brown  playing the giant pandeiro drum
Everybody was happy yesterday in Brasilia, as the country celebrated it Independence Day with a grand parade. Since it fell on a Friday, that meant a three day weekend, and in Brasilia, a three day week means, lets go to Rio!!  At lest for people with cushy government jobs and that mean more work for waiters in Rio, especially on Copacabana beach.

Paloma

Paloma

Paloma
A photo shoot a I did a few months back with up and coming Brazilian super model Paloma. In addition to being a beautiful young lady she also is very humble, intelligence and creative and loves the Lord.  I pray that God will bless her and direct all of her steps. The youth is a very important part of any nation. If you loose them, there goes also, the country.

Férias por Jesus

Presenting the Gospel in a Skit

Explaining the Gospel Message
Well, I'm always impressed whenever I see the youth out preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These young kids from the Igreja Cristã Evangélica in Brasilia, Brazil, are doing just that on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. They could be out doing other things like most kids might be doing on a Saturday but they choose to be out witnessing and teaching God word. God bless them all the days of there lives and may they continue to win souls for for Brazil.

The two boy's in the middle photo especially Luis, on the left loves to hang out at his church to help out his friends and neighbors with what ever they might need. Photos taken in Guatemala City.

Renata

Little Renata
One of my favorite shots from a portrait session a few months back. This little lady was quite shy at first but soon warmed up to me and we had a great time working on different poses.  I think she's ready to go pro now, but first school.

In Through the Outdoor

It's never to Late
Knock and the door will be open. Many Bible verse refer to doors being open and closed. Jesus says in Revelation 3:20 Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as a friend. I'm always confronted to know that whatever I'm going through in life, the King and Ruler of the universe is there to help and guide me through!! Thank you Master. There is none like you you as the old song says.

Festa São João

Youth enjoying the festival
Hi Mom, like my outfit
Doing the Alligator Dance
The Festa São João or the Saint John Festival, aka the Festa Junina is celebrated every June in Brazil. it use to be only on the 24th of the month but now they celebrate it through the whole month. I believe in Oporto, Portugal, home of port wine, where the festival has it's origins, it's only celebrated on the 23 & 24 of the month and not the whole month like in Brazil.
