Festa São João

Youth enjoying the festival
Hi Mom, like my outfit
Doing the Alligator Dance
The Festa São João or the Saint John Festival, aka the Festa Junina is celebrated every June in Brazil. it use to be only on the 24th of the month but now they celebrate it through the whole month. I believe in Oporto, Portugal, home of port wine, where the festival has it's origins, it's only celebrated on the 23 & 24 of the month and not the whole month like in Brazil.

Digital TV Tower & Rainbow

Digital TV Tower-Brasilia
Somewhere Under the Rainbow
The other day  I wanted to go to the famous Digital TV Tower in Brasilia, (not tbe mistaken for the Torre de TV Tower) to see what kind of images I could get from that vantage point. Well, the line to go up was very long and I was told that they had already close the line for the day and no more people could go up.  So, I had to settle for a few shoots of the tower and this this beautiful rainbow that appeared. I love rainbows it always remind me of the power of God, and the beauty of this nature.

Família Aprasida

 Aprasida, with her children

Sisters, Neildes & Ana Carolina
I met this delightful family the other day while walking. They were more than happy to talk with me seeing how most people just ignore them or look down on them. The truth is, God, said in this word that you will always have the poor and weak with you. They might be poor but given the chance these kids could grow up to be Might Warriors for Christ and his Kingdom. Next time I see them I'll invite them over for dinner.

Proverbs 19:17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord--and he will repay you.

Proverbs 28:27 Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing. But a curse will come upon those who close their eyes to poverty.

Proverbs 22:9 Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.

Isaiah 58:10 Feed the hungry,
    and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.

My Little Friend

Capuchin Monkey

Waiting for a Hand Out
While strolling through the Parque Nacional de Brasilia, I came across these curious Capuchin monkeys. Although you are asked not to feed them I believe that by the way they were following me around this is not the case. Also, as the park closes these little guy's can be seen raiding the trash cans around the park having a good time eating what they can find, and from what I understand they'll eat just about anything.

Brasilia at Night

Congresso Nacional & Ministérios
View of Brasilia, Brazil at night taken from the TV Tower or as they call it here, Torre de Televisão. This expose took about 6 second to make and It took several attempt's due to wind and people walking around on the the platform that I was on causing the tripod to shake. The two tower looking structure in the middle is the National Congress, and the Ministérios are on the right and left. The darken area is all open space or green space which is one of the thing I love about Brasilia, their not trying to put building up everywhere causing the type of clutter you'd see in other major cities

Old VW Bug

Band Limo
It's always hard to tell what year a VW Bug is because for the most part they all look the same. I'm guessing this one is pretty old more the twenty years. Since its parked out side a Bar I think it must belong to the band.

Colorful Foliage

Pink Ipe Tree

No matter what time of the year it is in Brazil, there always seems to be something beautiful in bloom. Take these trees for instant the top one is of an Ipe tree very common here in Brazil, and blooms in several colors such as yellow and I believe red (not sure if the bottom photo is an Ipe Tree).

Igreja de Nosso Senhor do Bonfim

Igreja de Nosso Senhor do Bonfim
I must say I like the name of this church Igreja de Nosso Senhor do Bonfim or  Our Lord of Good Ending in Pirenópolis, Brazil,  just a short drive from Brasilia, and worth the trip. For such a small town it has lot's of interesting things to see and photograph.
