Face of the Day-8

Rosa and Pedro, Los Ocotes, Guatemala
In my many travels around the world I love to photograph kids and young people. It has been my experience that in poorer counties kids are always so humble and most often very funny with all their different facial expressions. These two siblings were a little on the shy side but nonetheless fun to work with to get them to pose for me. God bless them.

Face of the Day-7

Changing of the Guard, Athens Greece
Well, with Greece in the news lately I thought I'd post one of my award wining photos from there and hope that they can solve their financially woes. What happen in Greece should be a lesson to us all. It's simple. Basically, in socialism you eventual run out of other peoples money. I still think that looks like a dress hes wearing.

Face of the Day-6

Tango in San Telmo, Pablo & Inez
This is one of my favorite photos that I have taken over the years. It was my first trip trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina and this was the last day I was there. I had been to this area of the city, San Telmo, on Sunday and it was lively very festive and pack with people. On this day which was now Thursday, I was walking around the city and decided to cut through San Telmo on my way back to the Hotel. I saw this couple gently dancing and stop to watch them as they were very elegant compared to most of the tango dancers you see on the streets. I almost got lost in the moment before I raised my camera and took a couple of images of them. As soon as I stopped they just walked away and left the park and I thought, wow, I took those photos just in time before they disappeared.  A few years later I learned their names on another trip I took to Argentina.

A Face a Day-5

Old Time Photographer-Mexico City
When I took this photo the New Age of Digital Photography was gaining ground at a fast rate. I'm sure it wasn't long after this, that this gentleman was hard press to find any work especially now with iphones and selfie sticks. I sure he took a lot of photos of tourist and young lovers in the park in his day but since he shot Polaroid he wouldn't even have any memories of the photos he took.

A street performer in Buenos Aires, Argentina take a break to snack on a fresh hot empanada. On Sundays in this wonderful city full of artsy people the food vendor come out in droves to serve not only the performers but also the thousands of locals and tourist that flood the streets enjoying the entertainment and local cuisine.

A Face a Day-3

La Munequita, Antigua, Guatemala
La Munequita, or the Little Doll, this is what this little girl reminded me of when I saw her standing there with her cute little outfit on. If your wondering what she has in her mouth, she is drinking milk from a plastic bags. In Guatemala, and other countries in Central and South America its common to sell milk and water in these little plastic bags. I guess its cheaper that selling them in bottles or cartons.

A Face a Day-2

African Woman Selling Goods at Market
With African in the new lately I thought I'd feature a photo a took a few years back in Luanda, Angola. Like most African countries it is extremely poor and for the most part not a lot of happy faces to photography, but that's life. Maybe someday soon revival will break out and the captives will be set free....Amen
